Set To Break All-Time Attendance Record For Soccer In Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN (July 27, 2016) – Relevent Sports, a division of RSE Ventures, announced today that more than 55,000 tickets have been sold for the historic first event at U.S. Bank Stadium – the future home of the Minnesota Vikings – when Chelsea will host A.C. Milan as part of the International Champions Cup. The match, which kicks off one week from today, is on pace to break the largest all-time attendance record for soccer in Minnesota, which was originally set in 1978 when 46,370 fans packed Metropolitan Stadium to watch the Minnesota Kicks play the New York Cosmos.

Chelsea and A.C. Milan, two of the most well-known and respected clubs in the entire world, will come to Minnesota after playing two other ICC matches. Chelsea, who is managed by former Italian national team boss Antonio Conte, brings their entire roster to this historic matchup in Minnesota, featuring players including Eden Hazard, John Terry and Gary Cahill.

U.S. Bank Stadium is the brand new home of the Minnesota Vikings and officially opened on July 22, 2016. Limited seats still remain for the August 3 international soccer match. For tickets or more information on U.S. Bank Stadium’s inaugural event, go to Ticketmaster.com.

The 2016 International Champions Cup started on July 23 – beginning with a Leicester City victory in penalty kicks – and runs through August 13, playing matches across the United States and throughout the world. Each team will play three contests and the club with the most points at the end of the tournament will be crowned champion. Each win in regulation will result in three points and a tie will go straight to a shootout; the winning team in a shootout will receive two points and the losing team will receive one.

In total, 10 teams from around the globe, including England (Liverpool, Chelsea F.C. Leicester City), Italy (AC Milan, F.C. Internazionale), France (Paris Saint-Germain F.C.), Spain (Barcelona, Real Madrid), Germany (FC Bayern Munich) and Scotland (Celtic F.C.) will compete in the 2016 International Champions Cup. This year’s International Champions Cup features the most storied and successful clubs in the world, including many of the world’s top players.

Nicknamed ‘The Blues’, Chelsea Football Club consistently ranks among the best clubs in the world.  The first club to ever hold both the Champions League and Europa League titles at the same time, Chelsea’s iconic position as a central point of England’s premiership continues to challenge the international soccer world. Chelsea won the Champions League winners in 2012 and followed with the Europa League title in 2013. In total, Chelsea has won five English Premier League championships, including one in 2015, seven FA Cup titles, five Football League Cup titles, two Cup Winners’ Cup titles and a Super Cup. Chelsea has also invested in its future with a state-of-the-art Academy and training centre in Cobham, Surrey. Since its opening in 2007, the club has reached six FA Youth Cup finals, lifting the trophy three times.

Additionally, the Chelsea Foundation boasts one of the most extensive community initiatives in sport, working in 30 countries around the world, helping improve the lives of more than 900,000 children and young people each year. The club features world-class talent such as Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Gary Cahill. For more information on Chelsea, please visit www.chelseafc.com.
